Meet the team
Here's an introduction to Inkthreadable, from our co-founder - Amy.
Myself & my husband, Alex are the co-founders of Inkthreadable and we originally started almost 10 years ago, aged 14. To begin with it was really just a hobby and we printed and embroidered bits for people at school. Aged 16, in 2011, we had begun selling online and invested in our first DTG printer. DTG was a very new concept at this time but it was perfect for our offering of many designs and not wanting to hold stock. This also allowed us to pick up our first print on demand customer (it didn’t really have a name back then!). We soon realised that there was a gap in the market for printing and fulfilment and began to focus on this rather than our own retail side, this lead to us dropping out of college aged 17 (much to our parent’s despair).
Aged 17, in January 2013, we became a VAT registered and LTD company – with no real idea of how to run a proper company. Of course, you learn fast when you need to!
Inkthreadable grew pretty quickly from there and with little marketing required as we didn’t have a great deal of competition. In April 2016, we introduced our Shopify app which massively increased our customer base and really took us to the next level.
By July 2017, we were running 12 of our little DTG printers and it really wasn’t enough so we made the huge decision to invest in our first Kornit which was installed at the end of August 2017 (just 2 weeks before our little boy, Harley was born).
By November 2017, we discovered that 1 Kornit wasn’t enough when we experienced downtime during our busiest weekend of the year (Black Friday). This had massive repercussions on our service and despite working around the clock we just couldn’t catch up in time for Christmas.
Following this, we installed our 2nd Kornit in March 2018 and our 3rd & 4th in Q2 of 2020. This has allowed us to increase our capacity significantly.
We’ve also invested hugely in our own software which often sets us apart from other UK suppliers that print in house.
Inkthreadable isn’t a huge company, we’re a team of 30 people and really care about our customers and we understand the struggles of growing a business.
We aim to give a 5* service to everyone and we’re always happy to offer advise where we can, even if it’s not related to Inkthreadable.
Of course, our service wouldn’t be possible at all without our amazing team! Our team are really the heart of the business, they keep us ticking each day and allow us to offer an amazing service to our clients all over the globe.
2019 for Inkthreadable is all about service improvements, reducing our carbon footprint, software updates and of course, the odd new product!
