2 Years In Our New Production Facility

This month marks the second anniversary of our small business moving into our new production facility. When we decided to move, we knew it would allow us to grow in ways we never thought possible, and it paid off!

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing, and I've spoken with Alex Cunliffe, our Co-Owner and Managing Director, about how they prepared for the move and their biggest challenge.

After receiving the keys to a 35,000-square-foot warehouse, we had 30 days to ensure it was functional. Miraculously we managed to turn the unit from an empty shell into a facility with an efficient production layout and, most importantly, a comfortable place for our team to work.

Moving our Kornit printer fleet was the biggest challenge. There was a lot of work before the move, such as assessing and covering the risk of moving our equipment and ensuring that we planned sufficient people to be on-site (in the middle of a pandemic).

All this preparation paid off, though, and allowed us to decommission the machines in our previous premises, move, and re-commission them within 12 hours so that production had minimal disruption!

And what was the biggest lesson you learnt, Alex?

We'd seen a significant rise in sales between 2019 and 2020 just before our move. This taught us that running a company trading in on-demand commerce requires adequate preparation and procedures for all scenarios to remain agile and adaptable to changes in demand.

It's still something we're working on. Like any small business, we're always making changes and improvements to better our service for you. Like moving to a factory that's four times the size of our last facility!

Since then, we've been able to increase our production capacity, hold more stock, and our team has the room to work even more quickly and efficiently.

It's been an incredible two years, and we can't wait to see what the next two bring.

As always, you're welcome to come by and visit us. We now have a dedicated meeting room and showroom to showcase the garments and accessories we print. So if you'd like to discuss your options or see how we produce your orders, please get in touch.
