Postal Strike in Canada

On 24th September 2025, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers began a national strike. This has affected all carriers, both domestic and international, that rely on Canada Post for final-mile delivery.

This strike has had a significant impact on postal services delivering to Canada. Royal Mail and other couriers hand parcels to Canada Post for final mile delivery, meaning parcels shipped by Inkthreadable to Canada currently can't be delivered.

In addition to this, since 29th September 2025, Canada Post has not accepted any new parcels into their delivery network, and so couriers in turn will not accept any parcels shipping to Canada.

The end of this industrial action is currently unknown.

What this means for your orders

All orders shipping to Canada will fall into one of these categories:

Successfully delivered: Your order was and arrived in Canada in time for delivery before the strike began.

Shipped but not delivered: Your order was shipped before 29th September 2025, but did not arrive in time for delivery.

Depending on where the parcel got to before Canada Post stopped receiving parcels, your order was either held in Canada pending a resolution to the strike or it was returned to sender. Your Royal Mail tracking info will show where your parcel is. In either case, when the strike ends, your parcel will either be delivered by Canada Post, or we will reship it automatically if it was returned to us.

Not shipped: Your order was not shipped before 29th September 2025.

Since Royal Mail is not accepting parcels for Canada, we can't generate shipping labels or mark orders as shipped. This means your order will remain in the paid status, but production will continue as normal. Your order will be packed and held at our facility pending a resolution. When the strike ends, all held parcels will be shipped through Royal Mail.

What to advise your customers

If you have any orders shipping to Canada, it's likely your customers will already know about the postal strike, and if they've placed an order regardless, it's likely they've accepted there will be a delay.

If you receive a new order shipping to Canada, it's worth reaching out to your customer to remind them of the ongoing strike. Explain that their order will be produced and packed as normal, and will ship at the earliest opportunity.

Please note: when the strike ends, there will be a surge of parcels shipping to Canada from around the world. Shipping delays are to be expected, so please allow additional time for parcels to arrive once marked as shipped.
